Last Thursday I got a call from the school saying that Bryson was one of two in his class that won the spelling bee and he would be going onto the school spelling bee contest the next day. We did a lot of studying that night and the next morning and Bryson was set! He was a bundle of nerves the next day and couldn't even eat breakfast. He was one of the youngest there with just the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades competing. I don't know who was more nervous - Bryson, Dad, or Mom.
He did a great job and took 5th place out of the whole school! We are so proud of him! The word that forever will be engrained in Bryson's mind is mercuric. Bryson was very frusturated because he felt like He knew how to spell the word, but the lady pronouncing the word said mecuric, not mercuric. Paul said the same thing. (Are they competive or what?)The spelling bee was on Friday, then this weekend I got a phone call from his teacher. She said that some girls in their class wanted to throw Bryson and Jessica (the other contestant) a party for both doing so well. So Monday morning I was supposed to take Bryson to school late while the class got ready. Bryson had no idea and was shocked to walk into a party for him. The class gave him "congrats" cards and a football!

Congrats, Bryson! I don't think I've ever even heard that word!
Brady and Karen, the raw fish you'll be eating out here in SF is actually very mercuric.
Way to go Bryson. Too bad that lady doesn't know how to read as well as you know how to spell. 5th place is awesome! Next year will be your BIG year.
Bryson, you 'da man!! (Do you know which word I mispelled?). Seriously, Byrson, that is so cool! I'm glad I'm related to you. So, what does the word mean?
