Exposing the Ritchies

Part 1: We got a call from Bryson's teacher today informing us of an incident in school yesterday. Apparently the class was asked to answer the following question: "What do you want to be when you grow up?"Now because this is 5th grade, it is not cool to act overly excited about anything, instead, you just seriously answer the question and try to look good.

The class listened while each student told what they wanted to be...doctors, scientists, astronauts, baseball players, etc. When it was Bryson's turn he got up and said with all seriousness, "I want to model underwear" Mr. Malmrose said it was hilarious and just thought he'd let us know so we could write it down somewhere. Now it is immortalized on the Web. Pretty funny kid! Thankfully, once the roar of laughter subsided he did add, ". . . well, and if that doesn't work out, I'll work with my Dad."

Part 2: And since I am telling funny stories about people without clothes, I should tell you what I did today. (Piqued your interest yet?) I went to the Dermatologist to get some moles removed. A nurse came into the exam room and casually told me to get undressed and put on the gown. (I'm laughing so hard right now, I can hardly type). I wasn't exactly looking at the nurse when she told me this, but I heard her just fine. What's more, I can do what I'm told. So I put on the bright yellow gown hanging behind the door. As I did, I thought it was interesting that this gown had such long sleeves with white ribbing around the wrists. Funny, I thought, how is this guy going to check my arms?

When the nurse came back in, she looked half surprised and half ready to bust out laughing. "Oh, didn't you like the gown I left for you on the counter?" Whoops. I told her sorry, and that I hadn't seen it. She started laughing and told me that the outfit I had put on was actually the doctor's exam coat/gown. Imagine the surprise the doctor would have had waiting for him when he walked into the room had the nurse not corrected the mistake! He would have at least had a good story for his wife.

The School Spelling Bee

I think I was the only Mom with two kids in the spelling bee, which made me twice as nervous as the other moms.  But, when it was all over, I was twice as proud of my boys.  Bryson and Garrett had both studied really hard and were ready to spell away.  They both did a great job, even though Bryson said "that is just what you're suppose to say, cause your my Mom".
Here they are before the big spell off.  The boys learned a good lesson - "it doesn't matter who wins or lose, its how you play the game."  They were both great sports and I was very proud of them.

Top Ten Ways To Know your 3 year old is going on 12

I love this picture of Mckay that was just taken while we were in St. George over President's Day weekend.  It totally shows his determination to be like the big boys - the hat, the sweatshirt tied around his waist, and the hands on his hips - it tells it all!  I wrote down this "top ten list" the other day of how Mckay's 3 older brothers have influenced him . . .

10- Mckay is a Wii genius, he can beat anyone in a boxing match!
9- Mckay has lots of girlfriends (more than even Tanner).
8 - Mckay can toast his own toaster strudel, pour his own cereal and milk (or so he thinks).
7- He only likes to wear boxers.
6- Sings "Hit Me with your Best Shot" instead of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.
5- Won't drink from red cups, only blue (you don't want to be a UTE fan).
4- Doesn't admit to liking Dora or Diego to his brothers.
3- Doesn't like to play with toys, "they are for babies".
2- Wants an i-pod for his b-day.
1- Asked, "Mom, can you get me on e-bay to look at the i-pods?"

I know that he is still a 3 year old at heart when he says, "Mommy will you hold me?"
